Volley is a minor character who briefly appears in Temptation Stairway.

Appearance

Volley is a witch-like character who possesses a lavender body. They display a purple archetypal witch hat with the top shaped like a leafless tree with a magenta square-shaped pattern. They also wear a purple dress-like cloth that corresponds with the design of their hat. Their hat and dress both appear to leak purple liquid in small drops. The top half of their face appears to be enveloped in shadow by their hat. They display a slightly frowning mouth and have two spike-like details, presumably their ears, on the sides of their head.

Volley carries five orbs with them; four are embedded into their arms and are colored red, cyan, yellow, and blue from right to left, and one that they carry using levitation is green.

The differences between the episode's design and concept art are relatively small. In Volley's concept art, they have visible bandages wrapped around their eyes and sport a pair of legs instead of lacking them like in the episode.

Trivia

• Despite Volley's green orb resembling an Eye of Ender from the game Minecraft, it was stated in a Twitch stream that the eye is not based on it.
  • In fact, Joel Guerra even stated while talking about the comparison that he had never played Minecraft due to having motion sickness.
  • Along with this, Volley was stated to be an original design and was not directly based on anything in particular, unlike many other characters.

Cultural references and inspirations

• They are named after the song "Volley" by the music group Oriental Magnetic Yellow, a parody band of Yellow Magic Orchestra, as the song inspired Joel Guerra to create the character.
