The Boss
The Boss is a character mentioned in Dream BBQ.
They are an enigmatic figure that everyone aspires to be. There is even a common greeting for people to wrongfully introduce themselves as The Boss. They are said to be found on an island across from the Hub. The main intrigue of the story is Froggy qualifying them as Ena's "work target".
Plot
Upon arriving at the Hub at the beginning of Chapter 1, the first thing Ena asks is "where is The Boss". She is answered by Dratula, stating he is The Boss himself. Froggy interjects to invalidate Dratula who immediately admits his lie. This is the first instance of a running gag where an entity introduces itself as The Boss to Ena before being corrected, usually also by Ena.
Froggy tells Ena that Dratula revealed to him The Boss' location, which is convenient as Froggy goes on by explaining that her job is "aiming for The Boss' gut", and that The Boss is her "work target". Despite the smoke filling the area, Froggy is able to point the direction to The Boss' hideout, which is an island beyond the blood lake surrounding the Hub.
When Ena tells the Receptionist about The Boss, she exclaims that she is too late and "The Boss is not even born yet".
After the broken Theodora in Broken Palace listens to Ena's requests in order to get closer to her target, she sees that despite the mystery surrounding The Boss, Ena seems to recognize clearly who this entity is.
