Doors
The Doors are a recurring type of entity that appear in ENA.
Appearance
Doors can vary wildly in appearance. Some are humanoid, others are animal-shaped or resemble inanimate objects, but they all share a color scheme that is primarily light blue.
Overview
Doors are an enigmatic type of entity that act as a form of transit, teleporting people to the worlds they are associated with. They seem to be present on both sides of the teleportation, in both the entrance and exit worlds, though they cannot always be used from both ends. Using a Door is referred to as "opening" it, and when the Door can't be used, it is said to be "closed". Within the world of Dream BBQ, they are seen as very important. Several characters note them to be worthy of respect.
Every Door in the Hub is stated to have an associated Genie; whether this is true for other Doors is unknown. Genies appear to have some administrative control of the Doors' worlds, since the Suspicious Man notes Ena is unwelcome at the Crowd Door due to Piero's tastes. In the case that the Genie of a Door dies, the Door will close until a new Genie is inaugurated. The Door can also close on its own for other unknown reasons, as seen after the Uncanny Streets becomes the Outworld and Froggy mentions Ena is running out of time. As noted by Ulysses and Squeedly Headman, Doors may remain closed for potentially thousands of years, with any inhabitants that don't leave in time remaining trapped behind them.
It is unknown how much intelligence they possess. Kane remarks that they seem to like the smoke flowing through the Hub. Some of the Doors move around, with the Lonely Door giving hugs to those who open it and the Horse Door turning its neck around.
