The Bus is a character in Dream BBQ, found by using the Humanboard to reach atop one of the buildings in the Uncanny Streets.
Appearance
The Bus is a six-legged, lizard-like creature with cream-colored skin, two squinted eyes, and a head of poofy black hair. It is found in a flattened form, though it will swell up to normal size when interacted with.
Personality
The Bus is energetic in its line delivery, stating every time the player talks to it that it is, indeed, the bus.
Trivia
- Its sole line is a play on the "I'm the Boss!" running gag seen throughout the game.
- Sr. Pelo, the character's voice actor, can be heard trying not to laugh in a few of his lines.
- He did three to five minutes of recording lines for the Bus, and Joel Guerra decided to use all of his attempts, including the laughing ones.[1]
- "The Bus" is referred by others NPCs as a conveyance that moves passengers between bus stops in Bright Uncanny Streets. This particular bus does not seems to fulfill this task.
- One concept art shows ENA riding The Bus running, suggesting the original intention to make this entity a conveyance for the player before this was scrapped (see Gallery).
Cultural references and inspirations
- The black poofy hair and pale skin color of this character is a nod to the way Sr. Pelo portrays himself in his animations and other media, which happens to be a cartoonish caricature of himself.
